Ways you can make your home look expensive without spending a lot of money.

September 2, 2020 | 1 Comment

Don’t be duped by a Nigerian prince. You can materialize your dream home with or without the money. A little research and innovativeness are all it takes.

Data by Market Research shows that the interior décor market is expected to reach 6,433.9 million by 2025. Homeowners are pouring millions into expensive finishing and renovations to transform their homes.

The truth is, small strategic changes can go a long way into perfecting your home.

Invest in better lighting

In any living space, light is everything. Whether you have the right colors and textures or artistic finishing, lighting is the final piece of the puzzle to control how all that stands out. With a layered lighting concept, it is possible to achieve a holistic transformation in the house.

Start by installing various light sources in the home to add depth and color to your rooms. You don’t have to drain your wallet on expensive lighting. Consider DIY chandeliers, lamp bases, and lampshades.

Pendant lighting works better than traditional table lamps when you are targeting a glam and affluent vibe. You might also find that placing candles in strategic areas in reflective holders significantly elevates warmth and texture.

Adding smart bulbs and smart switches is another way to modernize a home for luxury living. Smart lighting technology is getting cheaper by the day, and Amazon has smart bulbs that cost less than $50.

Go big on pillows and textiles

The right textiles set the tone and create the atmosphere in a room. Carpets and pillows can be expensive. The key to keeping it frugal yet stylish is first seeking to understand the use of that room and then adding the textiles that boost comfort and function.

Oversized throw pillows are critical to elevating comfort. You can make these yourself, or you can similarly buy materials at your local textile store and work with your tailor for personalized styles. With these two strategies, you can easily save up to $70 on each pillow.

When you are done with pillows and cushions, take your attention to the floor. You need a plush and fluffy rug that feels comfortable and visually complements your surrounding furnishings.

When shopping for carpets, tycoons might navigate to silk or woolen rugs, but it’s possible to get superiorly designed synthetic rugs that sit well in your home.

Buy rugs with beautiful patterns or bold colors that blend in well with your existing fixtures. The right color can add a whiff of luxury into your rooms.

Focus on rich tones and neutrals

Wealthy homes have rich tones, including maroon, red and beige textiles, and wall finishing. The right balance of these colors can bring out the stylishness and luxury you seek without blowing a hole in your budget.

Black, royal blue, gold, and deep green are the other rich colors to consider for your décor, according to Lottoland’s 10 DIY tips for making your home look expensive.

One way to get this right without overspending is to go for vintage furniture and décor pieces. If they are too shabby, refinish them in the above-stated colors to nail a million-dollar look.

Get statement piece

Your home needs at least one statement piece. Instead of investing in several art pieces, put the money together, and buy one big and inspiring art piece that will make your home look and feel ultra-luxurious.

Consider an eye-catching wallpaper, a faux fireplace, or a sunburst mirror as your anchor piece. The statement piece should be oversized and preferably installed in front of a large mirror for a dramatic reflection.

When installing art pieces, consider their impact on the direction of light. You need a bright and airy room for a luxurious feel. Consider placing lighter and shinier art pieces in your home’s darker areas and bolder pieces near the door and windows for an exciting contrast.

Further, experts recommend getting art pieces with a backstory. Generic nature and cityscapes may make your home look cheap. For original and personalized art pieces on a budget, check out estate sales and vintage shops for great bargains.

You can make your home a wonderful place of comfort and luxury with these budget-friendly decoration ideas. Start getting creative now!
